Dunsleyheat - The company and its history

With over 70 years of manufacturing fires and heating equipment Dunsley believe we can offer a range of solid fuel fires, multifuel stoves and woodburning stoves to suit all requirements.
Continual development using up to date technology and quality control gives you the best of
safety devices and fuel efficiency.

Dunsley Heat Ltd is a family run business formed in 1950 by the Broadbent brothers who developed solid fuel open fire central heating boilers. The Broadbent family still run the business today although the next generation now form the management structure.

Today Dunsley offer more than just boilers, we offer solutions for every heating requirement, including multi-fuel stoves, open fires and woodburning stoves. The Dunsley factory is located in Holmfirth, Yorkshire and it is here that we design and manufacture all our products including Multifuel Stoves, Open Fires and Boilers.

Covid-19 disrupts production factory closed for 3 month UK lockdown, March to May.

2019 New stove introduced onto market, Avance 500 to meet new EU emission regulations
for 2022.
2018 Enterprise open fired boiler 16" retested for new emission regulations.
2017 New 10 year guarantee introduced on majority of stoves.
2016 Highlander 3, 5 and 8 Enviroburn stoves tested to new 2022 Eco Design regulations.
2015 Highlander 5 and 8 SG (square glass) range introduced with larger glass viewing panel.
2014 New Highlander 8 Enviro-burn logstore brought to market.
2013 December - The Highlander 8 Enviro-burn Solo Smoke exempt available
2013 July 1st - All Stoves now CE Marked for the construction products regulations European Standard
2013 February - The Highlander 3 Enviro-burn Smoke exempt stove
2012 December - The Highlander 5 Enviro-burn Solo Slimline and pedestal version smoke exempt stove

2010 Highlander 8 and 10 multi-fuel stoves New single SOLO door versions
2009 Highlander 5 Enviro-burn stove developed for clean burning in smoke controlled areas.
2008 Highlander 5 and 7 stoves High leg versions developed.
2007 Highlander 10 multifuel stove central heating version created.
2006 Yorkshire central heating boiler version and Highlander 10 Dry version
2005 Development of the Highlander 8 CH stove providing central heating for the home.
2004 The Highlander 5, 7 and 8 Log store developed and launched into market place along with
the Highlander 8 double fronted stove and The Yorkshire range cooker, a traditional genuine
range cooker. The Yorkshire stove also has a face lift to bring it into line with the Highlander
range of stoves.
2003 The Highlander 8 twin door stove developed and added to our range of Multi-fuel stoves.
2002 Pennine Range cooker developed and introduced into the market place
"Probably the most advanced range cooker of its type in Europe"
2001 A range of traditional multifuel stoves " The Highlander " was developed to complement
the Yorkshire stove with riddling grate and Air-Wash system.
2000 An additional range of gas fires was developed with C.E. approval for class 2 flues with a
choice of designs and high level controllability.
1999 The Yorkshire Stove was officially tested and approved by the Secretary of State for the
Environment for use in smoke control areas under the clean air act.
1997 In conjunction with the Coal Research Establishment Group Ltd. developed the first Down
Burning multi-fuel stove for use in smoke control areas named the "Yorkshire Stove".
1996 New range of living flame CE approved gas fires developed to meet new stringent
European Community regulations.
1995 Gained ISO 9002 quality assurance registration for solid fuel units and gas products.
1992 Developed Heat Exchange Ventilation units which save heat and energy, more efficient than
normal extractor fans.
1988 Acquired a high precision engineering company close by to expand into a different area of
manufacture. Also abbreviated name to Dunsleyheat Ltd.
1987 Diversified into the living flame gas open fire heating market.
1985 Same engineering group sold the business back to the Broadbent family for the next
generation of Broadbent's to manage with guidance from the remaining Broadbent senior.
The Dunsley/Baker neutralizer Link-up system was marketed to enable 2 or more boilers to be
combined into 1 heating system for ease of use.
1974 Sold Dunsley Heating to an Engineering Group, one of the original Broadbent brothers retired.
1973 Acquired a small manufacturing company making Industrial Heating Equipment.
1960 Acquired land outside the centre of Holmfirth and built a new factory to cope with the increased
demand for solid fuel units
1952 Formed Dunsley Heating Appliance Co. Ltd. Selling solid fuel open fired boilers,
fires and accessories.
